Prior to entering the affordable housing field, he was an attorney in the Washington DC offices of Arent Fox, Greenberg Traurig, and Akin Gump, specializing in environmental law and brownfields redevelopment. Chris was also a mayoral appointee to the DC Sustainable Energy Utility Advisory Board and has served as an advisor to the DC Property Assessed Clean Energy Program. Chris was a founder and served for eight years as President of GreenHOME, Inc., now known as Greenspace, Inc., a non- profit organization whose mission is to make affordable housing and neighborhoods green ( ). The new public park is surrounded by mixed-use buildings, contains a LEED Gold certified restaurant, seasonal ice-rink, and is designed to be an innovative demonstration model for neighborhood-scale stormwater and green building systems. He directed the $27 million development of the Washington Canal Park and surrounding infrastructure completed in 2012 and continues to serve on its Board of Directors. He believed the Minim Home should feel amazing throughout. Chris is also a Managing Partner of Minim, a manufacturer of modular, sustainable micro homes ( ). When Brian Levy set himself out to design a tiny house he wanted to create something that was comfortable long-term, sustainable for the environment yet still stylish, and he didn’t want to compromise anywhere. Chris has more than 18 years of real estate development, legal, tax credit finance, and project management experience and has developed and/or owned over 500 units of housing in the Washington, DC region. The basic Minim House is 71,000 plus delivery and the trailer option is an extra 4,800. The company has numerous Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) financed projects under development. Levy, who served as the Co-founder of Boneyard Studios, the first micro house showcase in the nation, commissioned the original Minim House by working with Foundry Architects and Bamford at Element Design+Build. Both cost $495 each, not including shipping and handling.Īs an operational production line, Minim Homes also allows the public to order a pre-built trailer- or foundation-built tiny home. The second features plans for a foundation-built home, spanning 265 square feet. One set features the original plans for a trailer-based home, Minim House, spanning 210 square feet. In order to further cultivate the tiny home movement, Minim Homes allows the public to purchase two plan sets with detailed elevations, construction guidelines, build photos, and more. Minim Homes was founded by Micro Showcase Founder Brian Levy, Minim Built Co-founder David Bamford, and VNV Development President Chris VanArsdale.
